British government rapped over lack of climate action 12 August 04
Parliament’s Environmental Audit Committee is not impressed by the UK government’s strategy to tackle climate change, declaring in a new report that British policies are “seriously off course” and need to be “more imaginative and radical” if any progress is to be made in cutting carbon emissions. In particular, petrol is 10% cheaper today in real terms than it was four years ago – and as a result, greenhouse gas emissions from transport are continuing to spiral upwards.
