High Tide makes 'longlist' for prestigious book award 20 March 04
Quite out of the blue, I heard yesterday that my book High Tide has made the ‘longlist’ of 23 titles for what the Guardian calls “Britain’s biggest non-fiction award”, the Samuel Johnson. There’s stiff competition from here on though: also on the list are the best-selling Eats, Shoots and Leaves by Lynne Truss and Bill Bryson’s A Short History of Nearly Everything. Only six will make it through to the shortlist, to be announced on 4 May. BBC Four television is the sponsor – read more about the award on their website.
