Queen joins climate bandwagon 01 November 04

In another sign that the momentum on global warming is becoming unstoppable – whoever wins the US election tomorrow – even the British Queen has expressed her concern, lobbying PM Tony Blair to lean harder on the Americans to join worldwide efforts on climate change. Of course, Tony is already fully on board – though his deeds so far have fallen a little short of his words so far. Her Maj is sufficiently exercised to put in an appearance at a major climate conference in Germany this week, further bringing attention to the issue. This is particularly significant because – unlike her son Prince Charles – the Queen hardly ever expresses an opinion about a controversial topic in public.
