Nov 4 - March to the US embassy 27 October 04
Thursday 4 November looks set to see the biggest-ever climate change march in the UK in the aftermath of what promises to be a nailbiting finish in the US election. If Bush wins, there’ll be a depressing Global Funeral March, but if Kerry wins the more optimistic message will be ‘Take action now! Re-engage and ratify Kyoto!’ The route will take in London from the Strand to the US embassy in Grosvenor Square. More details from the Campaign Against Climate Change.

Mark, this sounds great—and I hope it’s hopeful, not a funeral!
The early voter turnout has been record, which most say is good for Kerry. We shall see—but it’s really wonderful to see the American people actually interested in an election, and turning out to actually VOTE in it! No one seems to want to be left out of this one! Happy news…now, let’s hope for a happy ending. Unfortunately, don’t expect it to happen on Nov. 2, or even 3rd. Actually, your people might have to plan on rescheduling their march…the lawyers have amassed, and it’s doubtful this election will have no hitches.
Gee, and I started this post off in a GOOD mood! Oh, well….

Either way I hope an enormous amount of people join in. I hope the word spreads & everyone in England joins in. I just hope the U.S. press covers it; we might still be recounting votes, or stuck in the courts—I read that there are 60,000 absentee ballots missing in Florida, and some voting machines (made by Republicans who openly support Bush) are failing….
Meanwhile, I have written to Teresa Heinz Kerry, whom I hope will be our next 1st Lady. It would be a perfect project for her – encourage & inspire Americans to reduce their GH emissions.
For the “faithful greens” there is a online “Prayer Petition calling political leaders to protect God’s creation” by the U.S. National Council of Churches (they have a global warming campaign) to go into newspapers: www.faithfulamerica.org/environment.htm
