blair states climate change should be tackled. oil companies have recently produced obscene profits by using any excuse to jack up prices[as they have done for decades] and now propose to use a large part of these profits to find more oil and gas.mankind is unwittingly being forced into financing his own destruction.blair should apply a large windfall tax on oil companies profits resulting from political situations and this should be used to develop sources of clean energy[tidal, wind, waves, solar, heat in the earth’s core, etc.] the windfall tax could be returned to oil companies that research alternative sources of power. in particular this must include the production of hydrogen and engines for future airlines.the civilised world[whatever that is]has the capability to solve these problems if it has the will and direction to do so.

I was thinking exactly the same thing!

Also, maybe Blair can get Bush even slightly onside. If this happens, then maybe the whole war in Iraq would be worth it, since it would prevent additional death and destruction in the future.

p.s. I have almost finished “High Tide” and have been quite interested in it throughout. Way to go (and don’t put yourself in such a deadly predicament in the mountains again)!
